Primped App

Toronto’s own Uber for beauty. Created, designed, and developed by a team of 85% women in 8 months.

The project

This season's MVP.

Primped was born of two former Bay street girl bosses who found it difficult to keep up with their beauty regimes while crushing it at work for long hours. Finding that the Toronto market was missing an Uber for Beauty, they hacked together a service through Squarespace tools to prove their concept. After that, my small team at Leverage built out a webapp that could support their growing business, and look great doing it.

This project consists of a brand, two web apps: customer facing and pro, and a brochure site for marketing with an administrative backend delivered over the course of 8-months with a team of 6 talented people (85% women!)

The PROCESS

The brand

Simple beauty.

Inspired by beauty brands like Glossier, the founders wanted something clean and unapologetically feminine with bold typography. They had already fallen in love with their wordmark and primary colour they had established on their original site, so the brand only needed to be expanded to meet the needs of the app.

customer app

Bringing beauty home.

The customer facing app started as an elaborate web form and evolved into a full-function marketplace.

Walkthrough

See it in action.

Watch the walkthrough on the mobile app, or try it yourself on the live web portal.

Pro app

Hassle-free hustle.

Pros need a space to edit their customer-facing image, and stay up-to-date on appointments.

Desktop Portal

No need for a business website.

Pros can link directly to the web app to keep all their business through primped services, keeping all their bookings in one place.

This project was completed in 2019 where I worked as the UI designer and UX expert alongside a Toronto-based team of developers.
